Hey everyone! Hope you all had an amazing weekend. Today, I’m sharing what I’m currently keeping in my makeup bag. Now I personally have a love-hate relationship with putting on makeup. Growing up, my mom wasn’t a woman who wore makeup so I didn’t really do the girly-girl learn/experiment until I was in high school. And I’m still learning how to work with makeup, how to apply and do all those neat tricks you see on social media. I’m a firm believer that you do not need makeup to be beautiful because we are all beautiful as we are, bare skin and everything. But I won’t lie when I say that a bit of makeup does help me feel a little extraordinary.
I’m definitely a girl who likes to swap out makeup products, either because I’ve found something new or maybe because of the time of year, but for the most part I tend to stick to the same products. I’ve been trying to streamline my cosmetic bag in an effort to get out of the house earlier (or sleep in more), so I’m highlighting some of my favorite products that I use everyday.
Since I have HUGE pores on both my nose and cheeks, I always use primer so my makeup glides better and have a more seamless finish. I’ve been using Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer since I discovered makeup and haven’t turned back since. It’s super lightweight and fills in all of my fine lines for a smooth skin look. I also feel like it helps my foundation blend a bit easier. Next I use Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Concealer in Light under my eyes, as well as a swipe down my nose, and the sides of my nose and a little bit on my chin. Basically, I just use this to cover any dark circles (hello… I am a mom) or red blotchiness. Then I blend either with my BeautyBlender sponge or my ring finger. Next comes the application of my foundation, to which I’m currently using Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Liquid 24H Longwear SPF 15. I’m still on the hunt for the ultimate foundation but the one necessity is it must have SPF in it. Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations for new foundations to try.
I always like to set my face with some powder and I just received Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Setting Powder in my ipsy bag for May. So far, I think it might be in the running for my new fave!! This really helps make sure that everything stays in place all day and doesn’t wear off. I also add a bit of eyebrow gel to emphasize my eyes and Benefit Gimme Brow has been a lifesaver!! Next up, I reach for my all-time must have eye makeup, Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Shadow Palette. While I love a good glitter or shimmer eye shadow, I like to wear matte shades during the week at work and this palette has so many lovely, neutral picks for me. I usually use mascara but I didn’t picture any because I’m all out of my absolute love, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I cannot rave enough about it because it plumps, lengthens, separates and is the best shade of black.
After that, I like to warm my skin up a little with Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzing Powder. This is a dream for those with fair complexions or are new to the bronzer-thing. I am both so this was a score for me. Next is a little blush for some color to my cheeks. I also received this Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Feisty from ipsy and it has dethroned my oldie-but-goodie NARS Orgasm. For my lips, I’ve been using the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Ex-Girlfriend and 24/7 Lip Pencil in Naked2. Both of these are long-lasting, glide on smoothly and moisturize all day. Next, I like to give a quick highlight using Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey. I use my pinkie and swipe it below my brow bone, inner corners of my eyes, tip of my nose and cupid’s bow. Lastly, I like to give a mist over my face from e.l.f. Mist & Set Illuminating Spray. Not only does this give me a bit of shimmer to entire face and also sets the rest of what I’ve put on.
While this may seem like a mouthful, I would say that I’ve got my routine down to about 10-15 minutes, depending on how distracted I get during makeup application (i.e. checking my phone). I would love to know what your favorite products are and what are your beauty essentials for everyday? Leave me a comment and as always, thanks so much for reading!
Love,
